Our community

A sense of belonging

The importance of relationships between our staff, families, children and the broader community are a key focus of our program at Emily Foord Kindergarten. As a community kindergarten, we pride ourselves on the connections that are formed all around us - not just between the children, but between parents, local businesses and other members of our community.

A parent-run committee

As a not-for-profit organisation, Emily Foord Kindergarten is run by our families. Each year, parents nominate themselves to take on roles including president, secretary and treasurer as well as vital functions such as events, fundraising and workplace health and safety. Joining the committee is optional but is a wonderful way to ensure our kindy is meeting the needs of modern families. It's also a wonderful way to connect with other local parents.

Regular social events

The Emily Foord Kindergarten social calendar includes a range of events for families to enjoy. From class playdates during school holidays, to mother’s dinners, father’s nights and family days, the sense of community and support is a unique and defining factor.

Broader community interactions

We are incredibly fortunate to share our fence line with the magnificent Kedron Brook parklands. The opportunities it affords us to spend hours walking, running, climbing huge trees and foraging for natural items for play are endless. We have also enjoyed visiting local businesses within walking distance and love going on adventures beyond the kindy gate together. Annual excursions on a double decker bus are highlights for many children on our kindy calendar.

We see ourselves as part of the much wider community and seek to forge and develop connections with others. We enjoy good relationships with our local schools, politicians and neighbouring businesses.
