About Emily Foord Kindergarten

A brief history

Our kindergarten was named in honour of Emily Mary Foord, a school teacher who started a kindergarten in Khartoum Street, Gordon Park in 1921. Our kindergarten opened in its current location in 1959 after Emily Foord’s passing, but was named in recognition of her early work.

A not-for-profit kindy

Our service is an incorporated organisation and managed by a committee of parents, elected at the annual general meeting each year. It’s run by the community, for the community, and all profits and fundraising go back into the kindergarten to better our program, resources and facilities.
