Do you have a 3 year old Kindergarten Program?

At present, Emily Foord operates a two unit kindergarten program with places for 88 children. Children must turn 4 years of age before the 30th June in the year they attend. Children turning 4 from 1st July will attend the following year.

What hours do children attend?

We have two options for class times:
2 Longer Days: Monday & Tuesday from 8.30am - 4pm
3 Shorter Days: Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 8.30am - 2.30pm

How many children will be in my child’s class?

Each class has a maximum of 22 students, with a minimum staff ratio of 1:11. Our ratios of adults to children is often higher, with a second assistant present and/or a parent helper attending for the day.

Does Emily Foord offer after hours care for children?

Emily Foord does not offer after hours care for children.

How do I enrol my child?

  1. Complete the application form

  2. Pay waitlist fee of $22 online

Offers begin in July of the year prior to your child being eligible to attend and are based on your position on the wait list. 
You will be notified by email if your child is offered a position.

What are the fees for attending Emily Foord Kindergarten?

The kindy receives funding from the Government’s Free Kindy program. If an additional hours levy applies to your child’s class, this will be invoiced at the start of each term. Please see further information on our Fee page.

Can my child attend two Kindergarten programs?

Yes, in some circumstances children can attend two programs, however the Government regulations for funding stipulate that children are only able to receive funding for one Approved Kindergarten program. Children who attend a second centre will not receive Government funding on the second program and will be subject to higher fees.

What does my child need to bring to Kindy?

  • A drink bottle - approximately 750ml that allows children to see the water level

  • Lunchbox - suitable for bringing enough food for both morning tea and lunch

  • Sun hat - broad brim or legionnaire’s style

  • Bag/backpack - Reasonable size to fit lunch, sheets, artwork etc

  • Sheet bag with top sheet and bottom sheet (please refer to the parent handbook for sheet specifications)

Please name all of your child’s possessions clearly including socks, shoes and sheets.

Is food provided by the Kindy?

Children are required to bring their own morning tea and lunch when they attend kindy.

As a service we promote and encourage healthy lifestyle choices. For your child’s morning tea and lunch please include a wide variety of foods, as outlined in the Australian Dietary Guidelines. In keeping with the centre’s policy on sustainability, we discourage packaged food. This usually includes highly processed foods that are high in sugar, saturated fats, salt and additives.

Examples of good choices could include:

  • Morning tea - Fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, yoghurt, sandwiches or crispbreads.

  • Lunch - Salads, fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, yoghurt, sandwiches, crispbreads.

Can I pack nuts in my child’s lunchbox?

We are a Nut-Aware kindergarten. Please ensure any food brought to the kindergarten is NUT Free (eg. No Nutella, peanut paste or energy / muesli bars).

Can I bring in something to share with the class for my child’s birthday?

Children’s birthdays are celebrated and you might like to bring a cake or cupcakes to share with the group. Please discuss with your child’s teacher before bringing any foods to share with the group in case there are dietary requirements to consider.
