Family and child counsellor, Ms Andrea Ashford, will run an information seminar for local fathers next Tuesday night at Emily Foord Kindy in Stafford.
“Doing a great job as a dad is probably one of the most important priorities in a man’s life and the role of fatherhood can be challenging, given that life can be very busy with little time to spare, and lots of demands to be attended to in a day,” Ms Ashford said.
The staff from the kindy invited Ms Ashford to speak with the fathers to mark the importance of and celebrate Father’s Day. “We wanted to offer the dads from our kindy, and surrounding centres, an opportunity to listen to a well-respected and engaging speaker, and an expert in family relations,” Mrs Neil, the centre’s co-director, said. “We asked Andrea to focus on the dads, because sometimes we can overlook their needs and the important role they play,” Mrs Neil said.
Ms Ashford has delivered seminars, for parents and carers, in the past at the kindy, but this is the first time she has focussed on fathers.
“I will aim to offer practical ideas to support the dads, which will clarify their role as a father and provide strategies to balance their work and family commitments,” Ms Ashford said.
Chris, one of Emily Foord Kindy’s dads, says he loves his role as a father to his three boys, but finds it difficult sometimes to balance his work and family commitments.
